The Compassion Based Living Course is the ideal follow-up to people who have completed the MBSR (or other substantive mindfulness training of at least 8 weeks)
The CBLC is a weekly mindfulness course based on the Mindfulness Association’s Level 2 Training - Responding with Compassion. It is an eight-week course which draws on insights and practices from neuroscience, evolutionary psychology and Mahayana Buddhism. This secular course starts with building self-compassion into basic mindfulness practice. Through compassionate imagery and mindful self-compassion, we cultivate positive emotions as a way of building up an inner resource, from which we can approach the difficulties that are part of being alive. We then approach the self-critic: that persistent inner voice that is harsh and condemning, and always finding fault in what we do. What wouldit be like to cultivate an inner voice that is kind and supportive, and to live life from this place, rather than from a place of destructive self-criticism?
This course is being taught by Jan Mayor. Jan qualified as a mindfulness teacher via the University of Aberdeen's teacher training pathway and is accredited by the UK Network of Teacher Trainers and the Mindfulness Association. She is the founder of MEND Consultancy.
